I've been to Amsterdam four times over 20 years- most recently in 2021 and I stayed in the Andaz. I'm heading back in May.
I don't usually have an agenda while I'm there I just absolutely love the city and enjoy walking around with various stops for food or honestly just to check out architecture. I walk about 6 miles a day when I'm there.
It's very hard for me to consider staying away from the canal belt but curious if there are other areas I should be considering?!
I like canal views and the quieter side streets, but would consider an area away from the canals (De Pjip?).
Thanks for any input.
Edit: THANK YOU! GREAT INPUT! My first trip to Amsterdam was in 2001 and I absolutely fell in love with the architecture in the canals which is why I feel drawn to the area to stay there and get a view of the canal and hustle and bustle.
Saying this I'm into staying different areas and can always go to that area for a quick walk with my husband who has never seen Amsterdam (I went solo last time). I'll look at these neighborhoods and look for hotels.
