Hello, I've been on Amitriptyline for about a year now, for anxiety and depression. I started out at 25-50mg, then gradually increased to 100mg. I've been on the 100mg for quite awhile, probably at least the last six months.
I've been happy with how it's helped me with my anxiety and depression, but I've been sleeping a lot, and always feeling somewhat tired. I never thought it was the Amitriptyline, as I felt this way a bit before starting it, when I was trying other antidepressants. I'd gotten Covid, while being depressed, and around that time I'd sleep the entire day pretty much, and didn't care when I went to sleep.
I thought maybe I had long Covid, but I suspect there would've been other symptoms if that was the case. But I also was super sedentary around the time, due to Covid and being depressed, so I think I gained weight, realistically. I am obese, like 300lbs at 5'9", so perhaps this weight-gain reduced my energy, while also exacerbating my sleep apnea, which I've recently gotten a CPAP for. CPAP therapy has helped a bit, but I'm still pretty tired generally. I have difficulty following a consistent schedule, and it seems I need 10 hours to feel more rested, but even then I'm still tired, but could this also be due to the inconsistent sleep schedule?
Anyway, I now force myself to wake up a bit earlier, and drink coffee, but I still go to bed super late because I'm a crazy person lol. Typing this out, I now see how much of a cluster-fuck it all is. I'm just having difficulty isolating what the main issue is. I tend to stay up late, because I figure I'll be tired anyway, and I know I'll get 7-8 hours, but I'm super tired getting this amount of sleep, despite it being a decent amount. I've also reduced my Amitriptyline from 100 to 75mg, for the past 3 weeks maybe, and I've not really noticed any difference in tiredness, so I'm not sure what to think, would that reduction be enough to effect anything? I may go back to 100mg, as I think I may be getting a bit more depressed.
