Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 doesn't seem to be using both cores. Can I make it use both cores?

I have an old ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 with the 15.11 Crimson Radeon settings/drivers. This card spouts dual cores, but I can never seem to find any program or application which can use both of them. I've had this card for over 4 years now, and always seen one core idling while the other does all of the work.

Is there a way I can get both cores working together on a program? I'd love to get some use out of it and see what the card is capable of.

It's sitting in a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 and running alongside an Intel i7-930, and the OS is Win10(10586) if these help somewhat.
