Anyone ever use ptm7950?

Post Body

Just curious, not that my hardware needs it but I may consider it for my taichi 7900 xtx. Thermals are in check but my room is around 30 degrees (c) arm so temps are a little warmer than usual.

*UPDATE Since posting this, I was also looking into thermal pad sizes. I opted to use upsiren u6 pro thermal putty. The putty took a little longer than I was used to arrive but I ordered 2 50 gram containers. I used both and had some leftover. I also ordered a syringe and cut the nose around 6mm for the opening on a slant to squeeze out even material on VRAM chips and other areas that had pads.

I replaced the old paste with ptm 7950. It was a bitch to apply. If I were to ever redo this again, I wouldn't cut the exact pad to die size. I would cut with one side a little longer to be able to pinch the film and not worry about the pad material ripping as it wouldn't matter since the die are of the pad would be intact. The other way by cutting the pad exact to size would tear some of the pad where the die would be at.

In the end I noticed a significant reduction in hotspot. In an ambient room temp ranging from 25c early mornings to a peak of 29-30c throughout the rest of the day in the summer, I was getting a max temperature of 95c with power limiter maxed out in adrenalin and a max fan curves. I do not have SS of my past temps but rest assured I was getting peak hotspots of 106c. Albeit my power limit maxed out. Core temperature did go up as it would usually be 56-65c and now it rests around 65-75c. It makes sense since VRAM temps went down from 90-95c to a max of 80-84c. I imagine the cooler may be soaking up a bit more heat because of the putty and ptm. One thing to note is I have the card mounted vertically in the magniumgear neo qube case with fans as intake on the side and bottom with a cooler mounted on top set to exhaust. One thing to note this was with PW limit slider maxed out in adrenalin before AND after ptm and putty, I understand that increasing PW limiter lets the GPU not be PW limited and increases temps as well even with an under bolt (never undervolted at any point), peak board power draw was 500w reported in GPUz before and after.

I will update with SS of some 3dmark scores stock and post ptm and putty stock. Scores went up significantly after the ptm and putty. If you mount your card normally in a case you may have a more drastic delta (lower temps).
