Just got an email from the New York Department of Labor confirming that I am eligible for unemployment payments. Specifically:

Dear New Yorker:

Thank you for your patience. We have determined that your unemployment insurance (UI) claim can now be paid. If you have not already, you will soon receive a letter in the mail telling you how much you will receive each week. etc.

So don’t believe this evil company when they tell you that by choosing not to transfer to WFM, you are “voluntarily resigning.”. They eliminated your job, and you are entitled to receive compensation for that.

EDIT TO ADD: First deposit hit my bank account August 23 after applying on August 8, so we definitely qualify.
