FMVs Grossly Overstated?

I know what a lot of things cost either on AMZ or in stores and I know that's far below what I'm seeing for FMVs on many items.
Right now, I see some small glass 'vases' that are probably the size of votive candle holders. I could get similar in most stores for under $10, but the FMV is $50. I see a small metal bracket for holding a camera valued at $45 that doesn't look to be more than a $5 L bracket at most hardware stores.
