Should I go for controls?
Post Body

I am a MT2 for a 3P. Our site has FANUC arms, kiva carts, conveyers of different types, and general base building stuff.

It's hard to find a CS job, and IT jobs don't pay well. The market is saturated for job seekers in those fields, I feel.

Should I make a switch to controls? I have a BS in computer science. It isn't an EE degree or I'm not a licensed electrician, but I did learn some networking, databases, Linux. I did a good deal of programming for dfferent stuff. I have good IT knowledge too.

Yet, controls doesn't do much at our site. And I get that impression that controls can help with MT stuff, if they want.

Should I just pursue maintenance tech 3? Should I focus on robotics, as that is an emerging field?

I eventually want to leave to work for a company that does does constant travel, and wonder what could help me in that. I'm looking for travel and a higher pay.
