Am I the only one who thinks Amazon is really up to something fishy? At our facility our day begins with 3 notices for VTO. We then arrive at our facility and they offer it again, claiming there is no work to stow. They then select 30-50 people to go stow or do indirect and busy work, leaving 50 people sitting in the standup area, doing literally nothing for hours on end. This whole time, those of us who do indirect are slamming work out like it’s peak, one to two buffers full of work, yet workers still sitting idle, vto being encouraged. Us in indirect or those stowing are now doing multiple jobs at this point, I’ve even had to unload and build work, to be told to go quickly stow it, again workers sitting idle on the clock. And while all this is happening? Two to three groups of new hires coming in every week. This all really just doesn’t add up to me, you’d think the worlds largest logistics company would have something that’s been done for decades down to a science, I find it hard to believe this company really makes uncalculated mistakes. My personal theory is that they are doing this to drastically inflate their hiring and job creation numbers. On paper they’re bringing in tons of employee, but the number of employees that seem to be getting gainful productive work seems to be a lot less than that, especially considering the Amazon turn around. All this being said, I think we should all make a concerted effort to no longer accept VTO, make them put their money where their mouth is. Either give us the work or bite the bullet and lay us off so we can get an unemployment parachute and find a better job. *sorry if this is rambling and i don’t have time to spell check so pre apology for any errors
