I'm an AFM at my site. I got called down to HR to talk with some guys from Loss Prevention because a high value item went missing from one of the pods that I walked past. They did the whole "good cop, bad cop" thing. The first guy was friendly and asked more "Getting to know you" questions. (This was before I knew what item went missing btw.) Then me asked me if I've ever taken anything from a bin, and I was honest. I told him a saw some loose wooden pencils in a bin once with no box and took one. It was one of those bins where you'd normally see the big/heavy items - not pencils - so I assumed whoever threw them in there was another AFM would had damaged out the box and just threw the pencils in the closet bin. Then he specifically asked about an electronic device to which I responded "Is this about the Kindle I lost yesterday? I think I accidentally left it in a tote but I'm sure it'll show up. I didn't steal it."
We wrapped up that conversation and then bad cop came in and he tells me that the item that went missing was some headphones. According to him, I drew multiple paths past the pod with the headphones and I was the only person who had walked past that pod from the last time the headphones were accounted for to the time they were identified as missing. Any time I asked for any additional details, I kept getting the "I shouldn't have to tell you because you know what you did" treatment. He didn't give me a date, a time, or even what floor this happened on which was frustrating because all of those are legitimate factors to consider.
I'm fairly new to the Amnesty team - I got my red vest just last week - so if this happened several weeks ago it's possible I noticed the item was sticking out of a bin (or had dropped on the floor) and moved it to another bin without scanning it in it properly. But dude wasn't hearing any of it and says that the data "proves" I stole the headphones. I know I didn't steal them but no one I talked to today seems to believe me. There's no video proof so they're relying solely on what their data suggests. How fucked am I?
