I work in singles, and it was at the end of the shift, like, about an hour left, where everyone’s super tired and ready to go home. I know we’re not supposed to wear headphones or earbuds, but in our area, everyone at least uses one earbud to listen to something because working in singles gets super boring. Well, we had a supervisor for another department in our area who came up to me and told me we are not allowed to use earbuds or headphones, which I know. And then she goes and tells me what to do if there’s an emergency and you have to hear what to do. What are you going to do, so I replied, and mind you, I’m super tired, so I’m not really thinking, so I said, and I quote, “What about all the deaf people that can’t hear? What are they going to do? Just stay in the building while everyone’s listening to the emergency.” In our department, we have about 12 people who are deaf. So she looked at me with a confused face and said, Take out your earbud, please," wrote something on her laptop, and left. So yeah, I put my foot in my mouth. Oops
