So before I went with Amazon's global logistics I was doing it like maybe many of you. Just leaving the job of getting my paid for product to the US all on the manufacturer. There are a lot of steps that need to be learned in order to completely handle shipping on your own. This put me at the mercy of my supplier. Every order shipping cost just kept rising. Until my most recent order my manufacturer was wanting to charge me $8k. For the amount I was shipping it didn't make any Sense why it was so much. So I decided to jump through the hoops to be able to work with Amazon's shipping forwarder. They quoted me $4,500 for the same shipment. And me taking advantage of Amazon's AWD storage it's now more feasible to send it all to them. There are still some unknowns. I was getting all my inventory sent directly to myself and this was for 2 reasons. For 1 the manufacturing company shipped our products very carelessly and many items had to be repackaged by me and my staff to avoid issues with Amazon and unfulfillable inventory. This will all be out of my control now. I have to hope that Amazon's people will listen to my instructions on tight pallets and more care. They are picking up my shipment on the 8th of this month.
Another thing that is unknown is that when I would get all my inventory sent directly to my storage, I would have to send it into FBA myself which would have added an additional $3500-4k on top of the $8k my manufacture quoted me. Amazon hasn't been quite clear on the cost structure in sending your products from the AWD warehouse into the fulfillment center. My guess is it will be much cheaper, but not sure. But so far it has been a great decision..
Edit/Update- 10-24-24
Things are still going smoothly. Communication was a little bumpy with Amazons team in China at first, but that has been resolved now. They worked very hard to meet all my demands and expectations. Shipping times were delayed, but I forecasted this into my expectations knowing it was not gonna make it into FBA centers before December. I'll keep this updated till my inventory reaches awd and I'll try to post some damage rate numbers and such for you to compare.
