AITB for trying to make a joke?

Post Body

Me and my roommate are both 29, he has two dogs and they often get into things. Despite this I genuinely have love for the boys, they're dogs, and I love dogs. Well today he was saying he thinks the dogs ate his weed vape battery. I was about to say, "Craigslist, for labor till they can pay it off." But he cut me off thinking so firmly I was about to say something about selling the dogs and he got all mad. Like what is that? How'd you make yourself mad along with me in the process. Like, if that's what I was gonna say that...I would say it. He claims I've said something along the lines of selling the dogs which even if it's true...who cares. I obviously didn't mean it, I said I'd sell my nieces and nephews to their faces. And he's spent time with my family so he knows how we are and speak. For context about me, I make jokes about punching babies and pushing people down the stairs on a regular basis. Which as one of my closet friends, he definitely knows this. As he and our other friend are often repeating the dumb things I say. I feel like whatever his person hang up is with someone selling animals is has literally nothing to do with me, as it's something I'd never do. Not to mention, I've actually had my dogs sold. My dog Drako made a litter with my sisters dog and I was supposed to get one of the puppies and they sold them all and kept the ones they wanted. That was awhile ago, but still happened. AITB?
