AITA for playing music loud-ish during the day?

Post Body

So I a while ago I purchased 2 HomePods mini, one is in the kitchen on one side of apartment and another is in the bathroom on the other. The one in the kitchen I play a lot when cooking and etc, especially when vent is on and other kitchen appliances that make noise. HomePod mini max sound output is 70db I read. Everything has been cool for a while, then the fun started.

Next door neighbor came knocking on my door at about 2pm!! complaining about music being too loud. I was confused, he saw my confused face and was like "I work from home" with a DUH type of expression. I said I will turn it down, which I did a bit, but I could barely hear the music.

Few weeks later I was cooking at 6pm! and I thought let me play the music on my TV, since there is a bedroom and a kitchen between my living room and his apartment. Of course that was louder than 70db but plenty of buffer. Knock on the door, complaining about the noise, very annoyed. I was confused again and said I will turn down the music.

Some weeks later I got a call from my super saying the guy has complained to management and they called him to check on my music. I WAS NOT HOME, I live alone and my super went upstairs to check if music was on, it was not! Very confused now. The management also let him know that according to the city guidelines, quiet hours are 10pm-7am.

The super said he has called him multiple times to come and listen how loud the music was and the super said he could barely hear it. Also turns out the guy's girlfriend who has lived in the apartment before he showed up has no issue with my music. LOL!

Today I was cooking at noon again, listening to music and again he was ringing the bell to my apt. I ignored it but it is starting to feel like harassment. I'm a little sketched out when I leave my apt not knowing if he's going to be waiting for me there or something...

Mind you I work very long days most of the year but some weeks that I'm off I like to play music few hours per day. It's not an all day thing, and sometimes I play my music just to drown out the music from my other neighbor, which is totally fine as they never play it after hours.

I am the asshole? I'm very conflicted about what to do but it feels like harassment at this point. I'm considering filing something with management and potentially the police. The guy clearly has a no tolerance policy for any noise whatsoever because...excuse me, he works from home. I love that people can work from home now, but it is also not an office building, it is residential and some noise is expected since people live lives. On top of that I feel like there are so many tools to alleviate this, like a noise maker or headphones with some noise sounds idk.
