AITA for not wanting to give the cat back?

Post Body

For nearly a year we had this beautiful stray cat come to our house and wanting to stay in, eat food and have a fuss... You know cat stuff!

Today, however, we saw an post on Facebook saying about a cat that could be the one mentioned. As the post saw from the person : The cat was left behind and didn't neutered him. If you have seen him, please get in contact so I can have him.

The issue is... He has been here for so long, we given him a name, ready to go vets and look after him as our child. I'm gonna feel heartbroken letting go of him but I feel like the asshole for not giving him up.

But are we really the asshole after we looked after him for nearly a year?

Just to clarify peeps, the orginal owner moved and left the cat behind. No collar, no microchip, nothing. Just left him to roam the streets by itself.

I'm not entirely sure who this random woman is who posted it on Facebook! I don't understand why after a year she now wants to know where the cat is and have it.

We are happy to adopt him and make him our own and look after him in full! Sorry for any confusion!
