AITA if I trap my neighbors cat who keeps urinating on my property?

Hi All,

I live in a council area that has rules around keeping your cat on your property 24/7.

I built a new house roughly 2 years ago and ever since my neighbors moved in (also built), their cat jumps the fence every day or two and urinates on my bbq in my alfresco. I ignored it for about 6 months and then decided to speak to my neighbor about it, he went on to tell me that "cats have rights and it is unnatural for them to be stuck inside or on one property their whole life but would see what he could do".

Fast forward 18 months later and it is still occurring, I have tried multiple different deterrents to stop the cat entering my property and nothing is working. The most recent argument (via fb) was quite heated so I just ended up blocking him. Every time I have asked him what measures he has put into place to stop the cat coming over he just dodges the question.

I have reported this to the council recently and they said they would send some letters out regarding cat rules / regulations in the area and if it continued to happen to contact them back. My options are now to provide evidence to the council and they will fine them, or to hire a cat trap and the council will come and pick the cat up. Am I an asshole if I do that? Ideally I would not have to do either of these things but they just don't seem to care and walking outside into a pool of cat piss every day is pretty annoying.

** Update **Yes I have cameras and it is just the one cat and yes I have also tried multiple different deterrents from bunnings and none of them have worked sadly.

I have tried putting a few ice cream containers with holes that have lavender in them.
