INFO. The fact you provide no examples of the books and seem to be deliberately vague is odd, but without knowing what the books are no real judgement can be given.

Animal Farm and The Kindly Ones are not even remotely close. I'm all for freedom of literature but without the background knowledge and understanding, and frankly horrific subject nature of some books, reading them when young can be at best pointless and at worst confusing and verging on scary.

Put in the last 3 or 5 books that the group read. Books are powerful but there are some that shouldn't be read by children. I wouldn't want a 15 year old to read something like The Kindly Ones for example.
