I (24M) have had a tricky past with my mother. I love her to bits and I care for her alot. I don't know if I'll be TA For doing it but in a couple months my mum has a severe spinal operation coming up. The doctor has told her that she can't smoke 6 months prior to the operation and that was 3 months ago.
Today I told her if she doesn't stop smoking I'm going to have to call the doctors and let them know that she's smoking and can't have the operation. To say the least she was furious upon hearing this and calling me a large list of derogatory name and comments. In some aspects I think I'll be TA Because this operation will save her a large amount of pain due to her having a large amount of problems with her knee hip and spine. On the other hand I feel in some ways that I'd be saving her life due to the risks of her STILL Smoking and then lying to the doctors about it before the operation. I don't know if I'm TA or not so I'm here to find out and get everyone's opinion.
She has also told me that she will hate me if I do this to her. I'm honestly struggling to know if AITA or not.
So Reddit AITA?
