My girlfriend and I have been dating for almost nine months now and we are very happy together. I’m going into my junior year of college while she’s gonna do her first year of grad school this upcoming year. During the pandemic she decided to get a dog, which is something we both wanted a lot. We both love this dog, she’s an adorable five month old German Shepherd. This does come at a cost, however. Keep in mind we both live with our parents in different states three hours apart from each other. Her dog while cute, can be a bit grumpy and misbehave super badly. Her parents aren’t the nicest people in the world, only taking care of the dog while my gf is at work. Whenever she’s home with the both of them and very obviously cannot handle the puppy at that moment, they couldn’t care less. On top of that they berate her on everything wrong that she does without getting any sort of advice in the process. Finally this dog is not comfortable with sleeping anywhere other than my girl’s bed with her. I’m worried that when school starts up again in about a month, that she’s gonna have to balance her dog, school work, being a graduate assistant, and having a separate job on top of trying to have a social life and a relationship with me. I’m concerned that the next two years is gonna be hell for her since she will struggle to do much of anything, and the best solution I can think of, provided that her parents have a change of heart which is highly unlikely, is to find some close relative or friend with a lot more free time and not in a toxic environment to take care of her. But I don’t want to do this knowing that I’d be messing her relationship with her dog up for nothing. WIBTA?

EDIT: Not gonna force her, just suggest it to her, unless I shouldn’t.

EDIT 2: She ended up having feelings for her ex and broke up with me, so in the end it doesn’t even matter.
