WIBTA for not telling my ex-step daughter happy birthday?
Post Body

I will try to make this short but there’s a lot to cover.

Just over a year ago my ex and I split. When we met she had 2 kids one of who’s 14th birthday is today.

We were together for 12 years and the bio dad if neither of my step kids had been in the picture. Until recently she never met him and that was the reason my ex left was to be with her bio dad. SD even told me on a couple of occasions that she didn’t want to talk to me. She had “her dad” and felt like she didn’t need me. He is no longer in the picture (again).

The only time I hear from her is when she needs something. If I message her she doesn’t respond or waits a really long time to respond. Phone calls are short like she doesn’t have anything to say. She will ask about a Netflix password or if I can help her with a technical problem with her phone or Apple Watch things like that. It’s never “hey how are you” or anything similar. The recent messages from her have been similar to “my birthday is x days away” on a couple of occasions hinting like she wanted me to buy her something.

She didn’t call or text on my birthday last year or on Father’s Day even when her bio dad wasn’t in the picture.

I have a 12 year old son that lives with my ex and the other 2 kids. When I had my son for the summer the oldest step child came to visit for a month and then went back home and she didn’t want to come.

I feel like I would be the ass hole but at the same time I don’t know. That’s what you guys are here for and I am in need of opinions and judgement.
