I wont say where I work for obvious reasons, but we have a CPA that over sees our accounting, and recently became our payroll company. I'm going to be blunt, he has a mentally handicapped speech impediment, think of the most stereotypical way people make fun of handicapped people and thats how he sounds. I had never spoken to him utill he came into our office to get clarification on how we bill. For back ground I bill companies for work contractors do for us, when we get repaied for the work I mark profits or losses for each invoice we receive. We had started paying our best contractors x amount of money to go to each job site and make a list of part needed for repairs and to fix what they can without parts, one company pays us to do this so we make money off it, but he could not wrap his head around how we made the money. We explained how it worked at least 5 times before he just accepted thats the way it worked.

I know there is a simple answer to my problem, "he's certified, so he must be qualified.", but I have doubts there. The owner of the company I work for is a missionary, and he prefers to hire people from his church, thats where he found the accountant. I have met many people from the church and most seem.... off. I'm pretty sure its a cult since they tell the members they cant date or talk to people in thier personal life until they dem them worthy. This accountant is from the church and only does work for other people in the curch or thier sister churches. I was told that the curch paid for him to be certified so they had thier own accountant.

I have worried about this before, but forget about it after a while, then I see him in the office and I get put off again. I may be profiling and running off some assumptions, but I feel put off thinking my paycheck is in the hands of someone who I think might be mentality handicapped.
