Long time lurker, first time poster. While this happened a few weeks ago, it was brought up recently. Just want to know if I was in the wrong.
I planned a date night for my (37/m) girlfriend Pam (41/f). I planned to take Pam out for cocktails and then go see a movie. I was looking forward to this as I haven't seen Pam in a while and she had to cancel the last two dates I planned for us. I can't explain it but I had a sinking feeling that she would cancel again.
We initally planned to get together around 6pm but day of Pam gets delayed and said she couldn't come over until 7pm. Around 7 Pam said that she was going to get a ride over with her roommate and texted me when she left. The drive between our place is only about 10 minutes and generally light traffic. 20 minutes after she texted me she wasn't here. I tried calling and texting her without a response. At the 30 minute mark I decided that I was just going to walk to the cocktail bar and get us a table. It was only a 10 minute walk and it wouldn't be out of Pam's way to drive there. I text Pam, asking her to just meet me there.
About five minutes after I arrive at the bar (45 minutes after she said that she left) I get a call from Pam asking where I was. I explained to her the calls and texts but she told me she didn't check her phone during the drive over. When I asked her why she took so long she said that there was a bad car accident that delayed traffic. I asked why she didn't tell me that she was going to be late, she didn't think the traffic would be backed up that bad.
Pam said that she was on her way and I should have waited. I thought she should have called me if she was running behind. AITA for not waiting for her?
