AITAH for asking my neighbour to not smoke weed outside of my kids rooms?

Hello everyone !

I feel so conflicted over a confrontation I had with my neighbours room mate today.

Today I was cleaning my house and I decided to open my kids windows to air out their rooms. After about 10 minutes I went into my sonā€™s room to put away laundry and noticed the whole room smelled like marijuana. I looked outside and noticed my neighbour was standing inbetween my house and hers (which is about 12 feet of room) and I was smoking pot. Now I donā€™t care what people want to do in their own yard but I asked her politely to not smoke inbetween and to move further into their yard. For reference, they have a massive area behind their house, a detached garage on the other side of the house and a 4 car drive way. They also have a deck out the front and a big front yard.

The roommate responded with ā€œIā€™ll move if you bring your mutt inā€

I was confused why she said that because I have a lazy 13 year old senior dog who is very visually impaired and doesnt bother anyone. She then proceeds to tell me that my dog broke their fence and got into their yard and pooped. I asked when that happened and she said may. I went outside to talk to her face to face and she continued to tell me about how my dog attacks her dogs all the time through the fence and she stands inbetween the houses to smoke to make sure my dog isnā€™t being mean to hers.

Truthfully I have never seen my dog be aggressive and as someone who is scared of dogs, if I had been told my dog was doing that I would have immediately solved the issue, had a different fence built and been more conscious of what was going on. I was shocked to hear that and although Iā€™m not 100% sure my dog did do any of that I told her I would watch him while heā€™s in the yard better.

She thanked me and proceeded to tell me how marijuana use is legal and she will continue to smoke it and to just shut the windows to my house. I told her I shouldnā€™t have to do that and to try and be more neighbourly. She called me a stuck up bitch and told me that I could talk to the guy who owns the house if I have more of an issue.

I sent the owner a text explaining what happened and asked that if there was any issues regarding my dog that they speak to me immediately and I will solve any issues.

I guess Iā€™m just left here feeling assholeish for my dog but also am I wrong for asking her to move her designated smoking area?
