I (M30) live with two (F29 and M31) roommates. Both are lazy and don't clean well after themselves. I commonly find myself needing to wash any dish I plan on using even if I wash every dish as soon as I am done with it. They leave around their dirty laundry everywhere like in the bathroom, kitchen, living room... their rooms are hard to even walk through and it feels like I live with 10 year olds.
We've been moved in for a month and they still have tons of boxes of unsorted stuff just laying around and they make no attempt to sort anything else out. It makes it look like we are gross packrats.
I've lived with bugs my whole life and I know where this leads. I try to lead by example by keeping my room pretty much perfect, wash my dishes after use and dont leave around laundry. Mind you, I don't expect prefection from them, but I want to feel like I'm not the only one doing everything.
The male will clean up if I say something but do I really need to remind him every damned time? The female outright refuses if I say something and believes I'm "parenting her". I even try to back up my statements and worry of bugs by showing them what they need to survive via google or even official pest control companies (food left out, open water aka dishes left "soaking" for days in the sink with no soap, ect ect) she will purely deny my information insinuating that its innocent as "her friend knows better".
I know I can be a dick and elitest sometimes but are my standards really that farfetched and unrealistic? How should I go about correcting this? Is there a valid method? I dont really have the luxury to just move out...
