AITA for telling my mom she is insulting my intelligence?

Post Body

This is in regard to a situation I had with my mother today. I got into an argument with my mom about my lack of effort in studying (Context: Iā€™m preparing for licensing exam in May to become a pharmacist). She thinks Iā€™m not trying hard enough to find a solution to study better. When I try to discuss about Plan B options if pharmacy doesnā€™t work out, she berated me about how getting any other job would be an insult to the times she had to share payment with me (along with student loans) To finish pharmacy school. She went on about how Iā€™m not being healthy enough and not going out there to get enough friends. I told her that just because I slept in a little late today doesnā€™t mean I was completely slacking off on exercising and limiting my diet so I can lose weight and get better blood test results to not categorize me as diabetic/obese.

I told her that her accusations were insulting my intelligence. She then fired back saying I have no intelligence.

If it were not for my dad comforting me, I would be in a more ruined state. But do you think i shouldā€™ve been scolded by my mom?

Do you think I shouldā€™ve not said the words ā€œinsulted my intelligenceā€ to my mom if I donā€™t have intelligence at all? Am I just stupid and worthless like my mom thinks I am?
