My mother (78) has Alzheimer's. It's now in the advanced stage. Physically, she's pretty healthy thankfully. She designated my father as power of attorney with me as backup a few years ago- not exactly before the onset of the disease but in a time frame where she would have been able to make her own decisions.
She also has instructions to be revived if she requires life-saving care. From reading this sub and r/dementia sub it seems that it might not make sense to have those instructions in place anymore and instead have instructions for DNR.
Has anyone gone and changed their loved ones healthcare directives after they no longer can make decisions for themselves? What were the steps? Dud you feel it was the right move? We are in the US.
This sub has been so helpful for me and my siblings, and I want to thank everyone who participates. Sharing your experiences has made ours less painful.
