***UPDATE: I FIXED IT****
Hello,
I am experiencing a lot of issues with my Alienware setup. I own an Alienware 17 R2 and an Alienware Graphics Amplifier (AGA) .
Recently I purchased an EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1060 6GB for use inside your amplifier.
The issue : Laptop manages to identify the 1060 succesfully, but when trying to make use of a 3D application (Game, benchmarks) the GPU doesn't perform near the level it is supposed to. Most of the time is near 50% utilized and it won't go up more.
Applications I have tried : -Cinebench R15 (OpenGL result is from 40-80 FPS) -Grand Theft Auto V (GeForce recommended settings for the 1060, 1-5 FPS) -Valley Benchmakr (DX11, High settings, Windowed, 1-3 FPS)
I've tried the following to make it work:
-Multiple fresh installations of both Mobile and Desktop drivers from nVidia. -Using newer and older versions of the nVidia drivers to make it work. -I have tried using it with no drivers, and then installing them to see if it works. -I have tried performing clean installations and restarting it then pluging in the AGA but it still doesn't work. -I have tried to install it with the AGA connected and no restart and still won't work. -I have tried to install it with the AGA connected with restart and still wont work.
System Specification : Inside the laptop : CPU : Intel Core i7 4720HQ @2.60 Ghz GPU : nVidia Geforce GTX 970m RAM : 8GB Inside the AGA : PSU : DELL (The one that it came with) GPU : EVGA GTX 1060 6GB
Note that: Pictures of the installed GPU can be found here: [ https://imgur.com/a/B10gG ] Pictures of the best result on CINEBENCH R15 can be found here : [ https://imgur.com/a/40wP9 ]
The usual performance result from the GTX 1060 6GB in cinebench should be near 150FPS (-10% of possible loss and input lags from the AGA) Windows, GeForce, Alienware Command Centre, EVGA OC UTILITY, all of them recognize correctly the 1060.
All mesurments have been taken with either in-game FPS viewers and stat analyzers or/and with the EVGA Precision XOC (Steam Version). I have no way to connect to a second screen, so we have to find a way to figure it out with the laptop's panel.
What I need: I would really appreciate all the help you can give me so I can unlock the full potential of my new 300 Euro GPU. Please get back to me as fast as you can.
Hope to hear soon from you!
