i’m a 2004 baby who just became a fan earlier this year and have been experiencing MAJOR fomo from never getting to see this amazing group live, especially when layne was still with us. to anyone who was lucky enough to see AIC live (at any point in time), i’d absolutely love to hear about your experience!! when did you see them? what was your experience like? what do you remember? what were you feeling? what was the vibe of the crowd and the environment as a whole like? i’d love to hear your experiences and/or perspective! and yes, even if you saw them once william duvall took over as the lead vocalist, i’d still love to hear your thoughts.
sorry in advance if this post is redundant.
Australia here. Im fortunate enough to have seen them a number of times. October 1993, Sydney and Wollongong Australia were my first. Suicidal Tendencies were their touring support band (amazing as well). They opened the show with Nutshell behind a backlit, white sheet in front of army rope netting. All you could see were silhouettes of the band on the sheet. I’d never heard nutshell before as Jar of Flies was not yet released but it blew my mind.
Then…
The white sheet dropped to the floor and they cracked into Dam that River. Layne is climbing the netting singing like a beast. Next was Them Bones, still behind the roped netting and Layne still climbing, kinda searching for a way out.
They were absolutely phenomenal in Sydney, playing Rotten Apple for the first time ever.
It was a similar show in Wollongong but the set list changed up a little, still opening with Nutshell but kicking into Junkhead when the white sheet dropped. Again, so fucking good!!
I’ve seen them with Will a couple of times and they were great but I don’t think it would have ever grabbed me as much as those first couple. Over 30 years ago but I still have clear vivid memories of this shows that will never leave me
