Heavy manga spoilers lol
For manga readers
The Q❤️ game was a nice psychological ride for the MCs and not a bad final game in the manga, but I highly doubt it will fit well in the Netflix live-action.
In a sense, it is too anticlimatic. The live-action had its good share of violence, dystopian technology, and mental anguish (delivery of 7❤️ was wonderful); having the finale being a nice chat over a high tea croquette would be a slap in the non-manga viewers faces.
Manga as a mode of storytelling allows for more surreal scenes and depictions. This was useful in conveying Arisu’s hallucinations, like when he walked through the void, talked to himself, and forced his way out to protect Usagi. Live action shows dont have that same luxury, and trying to follow the manga panel by panel and trying to creat such surreal scenes would just create inevitable cringe cuz the modes of storytelling are different.
Mira was also much more hyped up in the live action than the manga. At the end of the live action, she was depicted as the GM, the final boss, the target of every “good guy” in the story. In the manga, she was just one of the several citizens present in the broadcast. I therefore think she should play a heavier hand towards the end of the live-action.
The solution to Q❤️ is also too easy. Just dont drink the fucking tea. Im sure non-manga watchers will catch on to that when that season 2 episode arrives as well.
So thinking in the perspective of the show’s producers, I would predict that the final Q❤️ game in the live action will be:
- not as simple; more difficult/obscure solution that requires Arisu to do what he does best: think like a GM.
- involve more players, they really developed many of the characters like Kuina, An, and maybe Chishiya (Niragi is presumed dead now so who knows, maybe he doesn’t get shot this time?)
- More grand / physical / Mira plays a more heavy hand - its supposed to be the hardest ❤️ game after all, if not the hardest game
- more visual: the live-action prides itself in its lights and colors, adding a technological twist to the manga
So I think the producers will scrap the concept of croquette altogether. They already did that for the first game, and made major rearrangements in the plot (like 4♣️, Niragi and Aguni etc.) so theres nothing to stop them from doing that. They will probably still play on Arisu’s desperation to find out the truth, but something not as simple as the original Q❤️.
What do you guys think? Any theories on the live-action version of the Q❤️ would be nice too. If you could design Q❤️, what would be your game and location?
