I have been thinking about this for a while now on why teams like Canberra, south Melbourne and Wollongong don't have A league men's teams yet. I don't believe the second division would work if we put all the second choice teams in and move the bigger clubs with more supporters to the top without them actually being promoted. I feel if we can keep a few of the bigger NPL clubs into the second division it would be much more competitive and if promotion and relegation actually becomes a thing they would be able to stand a chance in the top flight. I did see that the A-league men's Instagram said something about expansion next year but as long as they expand into areas that don't have super competitive NPL clubs that is ok but in an already competitive area like Sydney and Melbourne no other clubs should be made. Adelaide, Gold Coast and northern QLD would be good areas for more clubs but I don't really know.16-20 teams is a good range for the first division and the same or 14-18 for the second and so on down the leagues. Let me know what you think.
