We signed our contract on July 2nd & picked out our home's finishes at the design center the same day. The foundation was poured on 10/2 & our contract said it would take 120 days from that till completion. Which means closing would be around the 2nd week of February.
Fast forward to 11/30, our loan officer calls to tell us the closing date is January 6th. The builder rep, Joe Ramirez, said they had 3 crews working on our house to get it finished before the end of the year. I have a hard time believing they pulled crews from other homes to finish ours quicker. Usually closing gets pushed back, not moved up a month early.
When we we couldn't be that flexible with the closing date (we're moving from Austin, TX and I have to be working in ABQ 30 days before closing for the mortgage loan), the builder said they're going to put it on the market. The other comparable houses in that Twilight subdivision are going for $12,000 more than what our contact was for. It seems like they're just out to get the most money instead of honoring contracts.
