Reminder: Check in with your kids
Post Body

With the colder weather, be sure to check in with your kids in school to make sure they have heat in their classrooms. APS only seems to move quickly to parental complaints. I’m in a newer building with no heat for about 3 weeks even with multiple work orders and union involvement. It’s my whole side of the building so that’s at least 4 classes with absolutely no heat right now. Maybe 8 but I don’t know about the other floor. I can’t teach and I’m sure even if I tried, the kids can’t learn. I can’t even get an accurate read on the tempt because the thermostat doesn’t go below 55. I have a heater because this isn’t a new problem even in a newer building and that’s APS’s solution so they can take their time fixing it. I know my admin is trying but how work orders get done is at the district level and they play favorites even in situations like this. It took them over a month to get us AC consistently in August/September so I genuinely don’t expect it fixed this week. So yeah talk to your kids and complain, complain, complain especially to the district if their classrooms don’t have heat or AC come the warmer months.
