Can I call customer care and ask them to move me to an earlier flight when they are looking for volunteers for my flight?

Hi! I just got an email from Alaska asking for volunteers. They are offering $350 for the flight change if selected as a volunteer at the gate.
Rather than taking a later flight, I am okay with taking an early morning flight. The morning flight has 4 FC seats empty and the upgrade list has just 1 person (vs 28 in my current flight). Can I call them to move me to the FC seat of an earlier flight? Has someone tried that? Or is it even possible?
