A lot of people tell newcomers to just watch the cutscenes of the first game before Alan wake 2, and that’s good enough to get the gist for AW2, but more people should actually play the game at some point later. There’s a lot that the cutscene videos miss like the night springs episodes, manuscript pages, and the radios. The atmosphere is also kind of hindered by Alan constantly jumping around from place to place. Some channels are better at including some gameplay to make it feel more natural, but it still doesn’t replace the real thing. I think Alan wake 1 should be experienced to it’s fullest by actually being played
Yes, that’s my point. It’s not shitty game. It’s a great one. But it’s old, and that’s okay. Doesn’t mean we are going to simply forget about it. It’s and important game! One of the most creative stories I’ve seen from games, in my opinion. The flashlight mechanic is pretty cool too. But it got old. And the best part is: you can still love it, no one is telling you not to 😂
The Last Of Us I is a great example in my opinion. Very close in time of release too. I played it upon release. Thought it was the best game ever (it is still in a very special place in my heart). But it got old, man. Still love it, tho. And that’s fine. People don’t need to like everything I like 😂
People don’t like when others dislike the things they love LOL

It’s janky, nothing to do about that lol But it is a 13 yo game, so… You gotta play it knowing that. I posted here once about this. I wasn’t complaining, just stating that I didn’t have that much fun with the gameplay, and I wanted to create a healthy discussion about the subject. Main thing was: games get old. It’s natural. Just like everything else. That doesn’t make me hate the game. It is probably one of the best narrative games I’ve played. I’m obsessed with it. But we are allowed to say it’s janky, old, tedious, etc. I personally had a hard time going through the game because TO ME it was pretty boring. But yes, the story kept me going and guess what? It kept me going so hard that I beat it a second time. I recomend Alan Wake to all my friends. Sadly, I know some of them won’t have the patience to play it.
But don’t worry, you can still love the game and think it is fun, no one is saying otherwise lol
