Quick first disclaimer: I haven’t played Final Draft yet, so forgive me if I’m treading ground that is already revealed in Final Draft.
I think Mr. Door is Saga’s father.
His involvement in the story is mysterious and he doesn’t really seem to be helping or hindering anyone directly, but there are some small things that make me theorize this is the case.
First, when you profile Tor after freeing him from the overlap and ask him about your father, he says something like “That door is better left closed”. This is a bit on the nose but even though it’s a common expression, it felt intentional.
Second, when you’re in the Dark Place as Saga and you profile Door, he says that the Door family can has the ability to travel through the Dark Place. Saga then proceeds to take his same shortcut to a different section of the city. I think this one is pretty literal, where Saga is able to do this only because she is part of the Door family.
My third point is a little weaker, but I think it makes sense. After you profile Door, she abruptly says something about tabling the information on him for later. So abruptly, in fact, that it reminded me heavily of her demeanor when pushing aside the thought that her daughter could be dead. It almost seemed like she knew there was a deeper connection there but was scared to confront it, at least based on how her voice sounded and how she acted at that moment.
Fourth, he was the one who pulled the sheriff into the dark place. The sheriff theorizes that it was so Saga wouldn’t see the manuscript page he had been holding, but I think it also could be that Door wanted her to have the page at that specific moment, just when she needed it. This is the only time Door intervenes in an obvious way.
Finally, we know her dad has to have darker skin because her mother was white. So that fits too.
Anyway that’s it. There may be more implications of this, or more bits of evidence, but these are the ones that stood out to me. Let me know if anyone found anything else that would add credence to this theory!
He also says to Alan on their final meeting that he wrote someone dear to him into the story.
And yes, I think that you theory about Door bringing Tim Breaker to help Saga is more than a theory. If you read the manuscript Tim gives to Saga, it says that he allowed Alan to observe his steps for one reason: “To be passed on by his unwilling disciple (maybe Alan?). To be read at the right time. (By Saga?)” That exact same time when she needed instructions on how to reach Parliament Tower Plaza.
