I'll be passing through your state in mid-September, going west to east. To be honest, I know NOTHING about Alabama, but I think everywhere has its special places and I'd love to explore your backyard while I'm there. If you know a yummy roadside restaurant, weird roadside attraction, blooming gardens, favorite festival/rodeo, cool market, interesting museum, beautiful dispersed/primitive camp or boon docking area, or other random thing I shouldn't leave your state without experiencing, please share!
I enjoy connecting with people and discovering new places. Of particular interest to me are: pottery/ceramics studios, artistry or craftsmanship, weird passion projects like a shrine made of junk or a collection of marionettes, historical stuff, and pretty, safe spots to camp or sleep in the car.
Thanks!
Edit: I'm flexible on routes and will make an effort to see the truly beautiful or bizarre even if it's a little out of the way, but I probably won't head too close to Florida since my ultimate destination is north.
Edit 2: I'm surprised at all the Alabama hate in your own subreddit. Come on guys! Sure, the state has issues, but I know there are silver linings to be enjoyed.
