Hi fellow travelers.
Quick PSA about Beginner's meetings. I got a number of requests when I commented about one, so I wanted to make sure everyone was in-the-know!
Beginner's meetings offer a different format while still being conference approved!
Beginners can ask direct questions and get direct answers in a way that a traditional "share" meeting format doesn't have room for. These meetings, as I've experienced them, also focus on the basics (e.g., first 3 steps, sponsorship, slogans)
(If you're scared of big meeting formats, I want to say, I've seen many, many beginners come into regular meetings and blunder the structure, and it's all been just fine! Hooray! There's a ton of grace and patience and deep appreciation for the newcomer. We don't care if you "mess up"--we're just glad you're there. Usually, no one corrects them or even brings it up. We just say "keep coming back" cause you'll pick up the form of the meeting over time :)
Here's the one I have gone to: https://ncbermudaafg.org/newsite/uncategorized/beginners-meeting-sml-afg/
It normally has 5-7 people, but changes over time.
I'd love to invite comments about how these meetings support your recovery, and if you know of others!
