AirSwap is an open contributor community working together to help make the future of digital finance a reality. AirSwap Spotlights is a series published regularly to showcase those contributors making a difference every day.
In the spotlight today is certainly one of the contributors working hard to make AirSwap the best decentralized trading network on the block.
We proudly present… drum roll… Agrimony!
Introduction
Agrimony contributes to Direction and Delivery at AirSwap.
When I ask him to explain what he does at AirSwap in his own words his answer was, “I mainly help in research and guiding the direction of the project by talking to other partners in the ecosystem, trying to understand their problems and how AirSwap can meet their needs. I also help coordinate operations and smooth DAO-related processes.”
But that’s really the long version because when asked to ELI5, Agrimony simply describes his job as, “asking the devs to do something,” but on a more serious note, he adds, “coming up with cool stuff to build with friends,” cool, isn’t it?
His crypto journey began with an experience that is all too familiar for many crypto users, getting rugged by a crypto project. He describes it like this, “I got rugged by ‘The DAO’ back in 2016, that was fun. But it was also my entry point into crypto and just seeing the potential of the tech at the time (many of which are a reality today!) was incredible.”
I mean, you can already tell that Agrimony is fun to have at parties. It’s one thing to get rugged in crypto, it’s quite another thing to call the experience fun without any hesitation.
Origins
Agrimony was drawn to the AirSwap DAO when he participated in the token launch and for Agrimony it was love at first ICO. He was impressed by AirSwap’s relationship with ConsenSys and MetaMask, two important organizations in the crypto space. Seeing those relationships helped convince Agrimony that AirSwap was a serious project, according to him, “the fact that they had a close relationship with ConsenSys and MetaMask was rather reassuring that these guys are serious builders.”
Agrimony has been contributing to AirSwap for about a year and a half now and is really excited by Web3 and all the possibilities it offers, especially by AirSwap and what AirSwap is building.“I’m very excited by the possibilities that Web3 offers and hope that the products we build can one day help onboard more people into the ecosystem,” he says when asked about his experience.
Agrimony’s experience contributing to the AirSwap DAO has left him with some reflections on what it feels like to work in a DAO as opposed to a traditional organization. He says his favorite thing about working in a DAO is that, “the energy and space of the space feel more like a hobby than a job.”
But there can be downsides to everything, and Agrimony’s least favorite thing about working in Web3 is that, “the energy and speed of the space can also be a huge mental drain.”
Lucky for the AirSwap community, Agrimony finds ways to deal with the stress that can arise from working in an industry as fast-paced as the crypto industry. One of those ways is through music.
Music
You know how you meet someone interesting and you just know they have interesting playlists to share with everyone else? That’s Agrimony for us.
When I ask him for his favorite genre of music he simply says, “I just listen to LoFi music these days because I’m boring.” But of course, I absolutely do not agree with that. I mean it’s 2022, are you even cool if you don’t have at least one LoFi playlist in rotation on your list of work playlists?
Speaking of work playlists I asked Agrimony if he has one, to which he replies, “not really, but I do have a preference for “Sad Indie,” and you know what? So do we at AirSwap, we now totally prefer Sad Indie too!
He does have a Sad Indie playlist he particularly likes and we are sharing that with you in the hopes that Agrimony’s playlist will become yours.

He might not be big on playlists but when it comes to songs, Her by eery is currently on repeat for Agrimony.
Interests
Although he thinks he is boring, two very interesting things excite Agrimony right now.
In the crypto space, he is excited by AirSwap. He believes that the “focus on building decentralized structures will help to even the playing field and empower Web3 communities to take control of their own marketplace and tokenomics.”
Outside of crypto Agrimony is particularly excited about space exploration. He thinks it is super cool that NASA wants to go back to the moon and that he might get to see a manned moon landing in his lifetime.
And NFTs
Everyone in the crypto space has an opinion on NFTs, and they usually come in extremes. To some NFTs are just digital representations of monkey pictures, for others NFTs are the next step in the evolution of art.
For Agrimony, he is really excited about NFTs and their potential. When I ask him, simply, “NFTs, yes or no?” His answer is an emphatic, “Yes!”
Well naturally I had to ask him if he owned any and what is his favorite collection and as it turns out, Agrimony is a bit of an artist himself!
“Yep! I actually made some NFTs myself (shameless plug here: https://foundation.app/@agrimony). Other than that, I’m also really excited about the utility of NFTs in long-form generative art. My favorite collections are those from the Art Blocks series, e.g., Chromie Squiggles, Fidenzas, Ringers, and Meridians, to name a few.”
It turns out you can work with someone for a long time and never really know their deepest NFT secrets.

Perspectives
We’re proud of Agrimony, and the feeling is mutual.
“What is your favorite thing about working on AirSwap and what would you say to people looking to join?” I asked him at the end of our time together.
“The contributors to AirSwap DAO have been seriously amazing,” he replied, “they are some of the most talented builders in the space who are focused on value creation rather than value extraction*. I’m blown away by their spirit!”*
And my final question to Agrimony was quite simple, “what would you say to people looking to join the AirSwap DAO?”
And I believe that Agrimony spoke for all of us at AirSwap when he said, “hop on into our Discord and say hi. The contributors there are really awesome and welcoming.”
If Agrimony says that AirSwap is an amazing community then we really can’t argue with him! Come on by anytime to discover it for yourself.
You can follow Agrimony on Twitter for more AirSwap insights, sad indie music, and exciting NFT projects.
