Post Body

The military has been on my mind since I was a kid but I met my own wife at 18 and since that we had a kid and are halfway through college and living together. Money isn't tight and can afford college since I work in construction and that pays pretty good lol but I always had this burn to go to the military but always backed out last second due to fears of ww3 or the apocalypse since that's all my family and I prepare for these last 4 years. Also note my dad was navy in the year 2000 so I guess that's why I wanted to join but he is extremely against it and says todays military and leadership isn't the way it was back then and that any moment ww3 could happen. So I never enlisted and since then got my associates degree from a community college and do construction drilling that pays good enough for me to get a car and pay for college and rent so they says there is no need for me to join anyways. But while in college I heard of rotc and how I can become an officer and now the whole burnin desire comes in my head again to join the military through the 4 year rotc program. The deadline to join rotc this year is August 17th. I'm just worried about my family in case of a ww3 scenario and if joining the military now is a bad idea. Please someone give advice. It's 4 years of rotc then 4 years active duty, so I really don't know how America will be in the next 8 years. I'm just worried if ima join then after college rotc ww3 happens and I'm the first one dead, or the base where my family is at gets blown up or something. I keep hearing about ww3 every month now. I'm not worried about the physical training but more of the world politics goin on. Ps my degree is in civil engineering so if ww3 does happen what would the survival rate be for an air force civil engineer?
