Read the Sub Rules, sorry if this ends up breaking any, but I could not post on r/airnationalguard. I recently turned 28 and I’m expected to finish a bachelors degree in history before turning 30. In 2020, I enlisted in the Army National Guard as an 11B thinking I would go Green to Gold, but I fucked up and a minor blood disorder got me chaptered out of basic and was never a soldier. But I still wish to serve my country and community, as well as better myself and reach my full potential. Being an officer in the military has always seemed like the way to do that in my eyes. I haven’t spoken to a recruiter yet, but I was wondering if anyone can talk of their experience going from civilian to officer “later in life.” Any chance of becoming a pilot, having thus far taken no flight training or engineering courses? Would having active thalassemia beta trait be a disqualifying condition? I live near multiple Air National Guard bases/airfields, each operating a different platform, and I would be honoured to work any. Best regards, and thank you in advance.
