I wasn’t trying to hide anything going into MEPS, but my god they put the burners on me and had me convinced I was gonna be arrested for 5 years on the spot. I didn’t report I had a dislocated elbow in 2000 when I was 1 freaking year old. Because I didn’t even think of it. The doctor was saying he could put me in jail for 5 years. Then they found stuff from my childhood like I had a hairline fracture when I was 6 years old on my arm and took meds for anxiety from 2008-2012. They were acting FURIOUS dude I got talked to by the MEPS commander and everything asking if my recruiter told me to lie and they opened up a freaking case. I passed everything else just fine, but now I need a bunch of forms saying I’m good to go from things that happened 10 years ago that have not affected me at all.
I’d put money on our military struggling in the near future because of Genesis sniping out childhood things that weren’t even on an applicants mind. Most people have to make a whole trek out to MEPS in the first place, but only 2 of the ~25 guys there with me didn’t get DQ’d for some reason or another. Even if a waiver was doable, lot of people are going to call it quits there because of the shit ton of time it takes up just to even get to MEPS. The effort to join a job that pays under 30k/year IF you go active duty is ridiculous. I know it’s a big deal but they act desperate for people and then weeding 90% of them out for some bullshit minor reason they sniped from when you were a toddler
EDIT: I told my recruiter I had taken those depression/anxiety meds during that time, he asked if I had to take any in the past year. I said no and he said we didn’t have to worry about it and checked the box no. Wasn’t trying to hide that one
