OS- Short- To OS follow on not allowed ? Unless CONUS AK/HI?

I heard and looked into the assignments AFI, my CSS had no idea what I’m talking about.

So, reading the afi it says that a member may not go from an OCONUS location excluding AK/HI then to serve a short tour and receive a OS follow on ? Meaning no more “bouncing around using Korea” FO is still possible but only to AK/HI and CONUS.

Apparently the only way around it is to be single unaccompanied with no HHG storage. Does this include a vehicle ? Also has anyone ever went around this policy ? Still had their HHG stored, And still made it back to an OS location?

Rules are broken all the time I’m sure someone has made it past this policy.

But if this is a heavily enforced policy, does anyone know why ? Assuming it has to do with storage costs and shipping Shit across the Atlantic multiple times.
