Are there still was to make volunteering and eduction relevant on EPBs either at the unit level or the AF mission as a whole?
I was looking over the four Major Performance Areas and I noticed that the criteria is taking a direction away from school and volunteering. I also agree that work should be what matters most, but for Airmen that have already involved themselves with the community or perused education I am a little lost.
I’m not trying to shit on people that do the actual work and make the mission happen but I have a hard time thinking the AF doesn’t care about this stuff at all. In a time where recruitment is down; you would think Airmen that go out of their way to be exemplary members are contributing something towards enhancing the Air Force’s image when it’s honestly at a low. Airmen overseas aiding the community are definitely helping our host nation relations at a time when our adversaries are busy to become pals with everyone.
Education is a tougher one. School for the sake of school shouldn’t be the norm. I like that we’re getting away from that. However, I do wonder if any of you have seen good examples of education being used to aid the unit.
Thank you for your time.
