Ok, so first off, I am not bothered that the guest mentioned what they mentioned, I just think they mentioned it in a way that makes it sound chronic and far worse than it was.
A recent 2 week long guest left me a mostly great review. The only problem was the part where she stated "The only problem is that the water was turned off during daytime hours. As long as you're sight-seeing or out during that time, it's not problem".
Out of her 18 day stay, the water was turned off during the day for 3 days, in order to fix a leak and some clogs (it's a 100 year old house, the water had been running slow for awhile, but one sink stopped working while she was there, and looking into that revealed a few other issues that were best solved all in one go). I did my best to make sure that the majority of the work took place while they were out, so it wouldn't inconvenience them (and for the most part, that's what happened. There was one day when they used the toilet before leaving, and left a post-it on it asking me to flush it before opening it, if I got home before them). If they had grumbled about it AT ALL, I would have offered them 10% off their stay, but they didn't, so I didn't. Maybe I should have.
Like I said, I don't mind that she mentioned it, but I DO mind that she mentioned it like it was a daily occurrence, instead of mentioning what it actually was, which was to fix the pipes (I told her full-on what it was about, which she knew anyways, since the bathroom sink that they used drained slowly, and then after it was fixed, drained perfectly) and that it happened 3 out of 18 days.
So I'd like to thank her for her stay (I always comment on the feedback people leave me), and also mention that the water was turned off during the day for a few days to fix the sink, and not for her whole stay. But I am not sure what wording to use that doesn't sound...I don't know...like the lady doth protest too much or something.
Any wordsmiths out there have some advice?
