How frank do I get with my Host on a lackluster stay? [Canada]

Stayed in an AirBnB this week, and much was to be desired. My complaints are numerous, some major and some minor, and I wonder how much effort I should go to in letting the host know the issues.

Many of my gripes have to do with non-disclosure, including no locking door on my suite, no bathroom door (just a curtain), and a slow shower drain (literally standing in 3” of water). The lock is particularly bothersome - there is a yoga studio across the hall and people are in and out. The front door to the building locks, but it was unlocked at least 75% of the time over 5 nights. I didn’t bring any valuables but my passport etc was a concern.

More minor issues include a loose dog on the property, who jumped on me / played with squeaky toys outside my window late at night, and inadequate trash receptacles. I honestly drove my trash to a public dumpster because the trash bag doesn’t even fit on the trash can, and the airbnb host made me very uncomfortable telling me that if “I had trash” to contact her….? Outlets are lacking - traded off one outlet for my phone, iPad, and watch all week.

I really don’t plan to ever be back here, and I’m not one for conflict. Is it even worth conveying these concerns to the host? Many of them are structural issues or not just “hey I needed more toilet paper”.

In its defense, it was very clean.

Is it worth leaving a poor review? Should I attempt to explain (eg via message) the areas that are wanting? Cut my losses and just move on? I don’t want to leave a negative review and have some kind of retribution (eg I trashed the place, broke rules, etc). I plan to take pics before I leave tomorrow.

Thanks all
