Post Body

We checked into our AirBNB yesterday, and this morning we found all the food we bought in the refrigerator was room temperature, and realized the refrigerator wasn't plugged in when we got here. There isn't anything in the instructions indicating we'd need to plug in the refrigerator when we got here.

Is the host responsible for the lost food? Or were we responsible to ensure the fridge was plugged in when we got here?

This is a learning lesson and I'll ensure to check that major appliances are plugged in in the future, but I'm wondering if I should ask for a refund for the food that went bad.

What would you do?

Update: For those wondering, the fridge was cold when we opened it. The host believes the guest from the night before unplugged it when they left and the host didn't notice when they were cleaning. They agreed to compensate us for the lost food.
