Flea infestation and reviews...
The Airbnb I left today, two days early was absolutely infested with fleas. The first couple I shrugged off as my imagination. But soon I couldn't lie to myself any longer. I was getting eaten alive and they were everywhere. The hosts initial response was apologetic but also denied the issue. She said that she was so sorry and neither they nor any previous guests had ever experienced them.
In my next communication, I asked for a refund as I needed to suddenly find new accomodation due to the infestation. She issued the refund, apologized, and was nice the entire time. She did, however, ask me not to mention the fleas in my review. Initially I agreed, wanting to ensure I got my money back and could get the heck out. Now I'm having second thoughts. I am itchy, sore, and paranoid. I've had fleas in my own (at the time, rental) home one time 10 years ago and it wasn't near so bad as this. I'm upset thinking that someone before me knew and was asked not to post it.
I am worried about a retaliatory review on some level. I like being able to utilize Airbnb and I rely heavily on reviews when selecting stays. I assume hosts do as well. Anyway, advice on how to handle this?

Thank you for writing this as a host. It felt wrong to agree but I sort of panicked that I'd be stuck using my vacation dealing with this and Airbnb. I did also notify Airbnb when the host didn't reply right away so dealt with a ticket with them too. I had a ton of documentation, so that made it easy. 🤢
I would want the information if I were considering this Airbnb. Another person suggested waiting until the limit is nearly up and I think I will do just that. Thanks!
