One of the mechanics I really like in The One Ring is that of Called Shots. If you’re unfamiliar, essentially, you have a pool of Success Die (d6’s) that you roll along with your Feat Die (d12) to make an attack. If you’d like to do something specific, like disarm a foe, do extra damage, or a variety of other tactical options, you may attempt a Called Shot. This uses your normal dice pool and requires a Great Success (one or more of your d6’s must be a 6) to succeed. If you do not achieve a Great Success your action fails even if it would normally have succeeded.
I’d like to introduce this mechanic to AiME, as I see combat as being a little “same” for all my players. I think this would give them a lot more tools in their toolbox for approaching combat.
Before I make a pass at doing this myself, has anyone done the work to convert Called Shots to AiME?
