Do I have to fix phimosis?
Some people say you do not have to do anything if it is not bothering you. Some people say leaving it can cause hygiene and infection issues. Some disagree with the others. So I think the answer is you have to do what you feel is best for you. You might like the feeling more of the foreskin gliding over the glans like it is designed to do during sex.
Phimosis
Phimosis is where the foreskin is too tight to be pulled back over the head of the penis (glans). If the problem is phimosis, the solution is almost always stretching which you can read about here. There are also two YouTube videos that demonstrate the stretches here and here. Your doctor can also prescribe a cream that can speed up the process. Just be patient and do it consistently every day since it can take six months to a year for your foreskin to become looser and more comfortable.
Why do many doctors immediately recommend circumcision without suggesting alternatives like stretching, cream, and rings?
There are several possible reasons. One is that circumcision immediately solves the problem compared to months of less invasive options. Another is that doctors are paid for performing surgery but stretching is free.
