The Preservers of the Ash
Post Body

A Holy Order of knightly noblemen who have served under it's banner for generations. It's origin is centered around the Holy Empire of Athemore's need for soldiers to maintain purity within the Empire while also capable of being the elite troops it's armies would need when they were at war with the neighboring Za or the numerous Goblin armies. This Order would quickly have fallen to Raz'gothal's influence as he would appear before the grandfathers of the Knightly Order one day offering them power beyond their imagine if they would only listen to the advice he would grant them and their unwavering obedience. As they kneeled before his monstrous form, he would provide the Knights with a newfound purpose. Their zeal for their lord and the concepts of chivalry and honor would increase tenfold as they swept across the Empire on their massive black steeds, and when they went into combat their swords would swing with a crushing force. In single combat they would become forces to be reckoned with as they overwhelming power.

Their ranks would swell with noblemen's sons and nephews of powerful individuals within the Empire. The status of your birthright and the strength of your will would become key components of what would come together to forge the leaders of this Order. As a symbolic gesture to their submission to Raz'gothal, or in their language, Ratzagöt, they would grant him the title of perpetual Grandmaster. Below him would be his representative on the mortal plane, the Grand Commandant. This man would nearly always have a very close relationship with the monstrous Lord, and almost always come from a very high noble stock. Below him would be his most trusted friends and allies, the Viceroys of the Preservers of Ash. They would always number eight, and would serve to extend the Grand Commandant's orders across the realm. Next would be the Order's most important men directly on the field of battle, the Warmasters of the Preservers of the Ash. They would serve as the field commanders when the Order entered battle, and would often be the ones who would represent the Order in chivalric tournaments and other competitions alongside the Viceroys. They would also serve as the recruitment ground for Viceroys should a position be needed to be filled, and also guaranteed all Viceroys would have at least some battlefield commanding experience.

After the primary leadership of the Holy Order, there would be the Heralds and Executors. The Heralds serve as the recruiters of the Order, sharing the stories of the exploits of the Order to all the families of Athemore. The Executors would serve a similar purpose, but entirely within the Order itself. They would handle the logistics needed to ensure every man was armed and armored, and would be the men who would train the recruits as they rose the ranks. The next rank is where the backbone of the Order rests, on the Sentinels. They would be where most of the experienced members of the Order sat, trusted men who would serve as core of the elite troops in battle and as the right hand men of the leadership. In the same ranking as the Sentinels, the Purifiers existed to maintain the history and religious purity of the Order. They would be an extremely small group of people relative to other ranks, and only the most zealous and loyal men would be given this rank.

Finally, the lower ranks would lay. These ranks would also include non-noblemen, those who wished to serve the Order with honor but would not be able to rise beyond this rank due to their social status. The Zealot, the foot squires, the ones who have passed all training and have been granted full membership but are otherwise considered the lowest full tier. Below them are Blessed, those who have passed the most basic of training and entry period but have not completed it and are thus not Zealots. And below them are the lowest of the low, the Disciple, a man who has gone beyond a simple statement of interest but who still has to pass basic training before being granted the title of Blessed.

These ranks would form the Preservers of the Ash, the Order that claims to be the first line of defense against decadence and sloth. In the current day, they are lead by the Emperor's brother Henric V who has been known to be a very favored man by his lord Ratzagöt. He has shown a certain level of ruthlessness and cunning that is uncommon even for a Grand Commandant of the Order, and his loyalty has been rewarded with a great number of boons. His popularity amongst the followers of Ratzagöt have also lead to his Viceroys and Warmasters feeling a powerful sense of duty to the man, Considering his prestigious bloodline as well, he is known to command much respect across the Empire. However, he is known to have a brash temper fueled by his Lord's rage himself.
