Mythic Era, Age of Fire, Turn 5

Prepare this world for my arrival.

The words, mighty with power, echoed through the mind of every Troll. And through the mind of Pseudo-Tholak. And through the mind of the Polypetrapod, not that it can comprehend words.

For the Troll kingdoms, this unleashed an unprecedented age of millenarianism, as every Troll, from king to tribal chief to warrior to nomad, awaited the coming of their Lord, Tholak. Great monuments of reverence were erected, great sacrifices performed, and great tournaments held. But, after a few dozen generations of no arrival of Tholak, things died down and mostly returned to normal, although the eventual coming of Tholak became a part a part of Troll religious thought.

For the Order of the Firsts, however, it became their guiding purpose. Even after generations and generations, the Followers of Tholak devoted themselves truly and fully to preparing the world for Tholak's return. Not that they had any idea how to prepare the world, of course; Tholak's command was pretty light on the specifics. But they tried their hardest to divine, decipher, or just guess what they were supposed to do, withdrawing from ordinary Troll society as they did so.

Pseudo-Tholak was not entirely pleased at this command, and even after he came out of his coma a few eons later, he was much more subdued, subtle, and careful in his actions, ever fearful of inadvertently attracting Tholak's attention. Instead of the mass mental commands and feats of sheer arcane might, Pseudo-Tholak arranged the occasional lucky or inconvenient "coincidence", spoke only rarely and through long chains of mostly-mortal intermediaries, and stayed put deep within the crust of this world.
